Understanding Digital Data

Computers save information in digital files made up of only two symbols — 0 and 1. In this unit, you will explore how words, pictures, and sounds are transformed into digital form so they can be stored and used by a computer. You’ll practice changing regular decimal numbers into digital data and learn about the codes computers use to represent letters and text. You will also create and convert simple images into digital format and investigate how sound and video become digital media.
